I think sometimes it was easy to forget she even was a unicorn. Not because the show forgot didn’t, but because of the actual impact it had
The vision of the show that Faust had, had her as a unicorn. Her character was fundamentally incompatible with the god princess archetype as well.
This is shown with her loosing her introvertiveness and autistic coding, and just becoming the basic one to be vaguely relatable to a general audience instead of what Lauren Faust wanted where each of the mane six were relatable to specific types of viewers.

The show would have been a LOT better if Lauren Faust had full creative freedom and writers didn’t keep getting swapped. Lauren Faust actually had a semblance of an idea for the show, but Hasbro actively ruined that, and thats why she left. And any semblance of her vision was ruined by Cadence and Alicorn Twlight.

Even before FiM ended, there were many moments in the final two seasons that made it obvious there was no long-term plans for the series, only what serves the current episode or builds to a season finale.
IMO, I liked the idea of a far future Equestria, but their execution on that was lackluster because of their obsession with shoving Twilight Sparkle front and center (again, a problem in late-stage FiM).

If it is really all said and done…well, Twilight being made into the leader apparently led to some rando destroying Equestria and all it’s society, instead of just having G5 take place in a new pony world, (interesting decision by Hasbro).
G4 had a huge audiance, but had the series constantly had very oddly written finale’s, and they let both Equestria Girls and now G5 end in a very uncoordinated way.
It’s like they had the goose that layed the golden eggs and at some point forgot to do anything with it, if not outright sabotage it via ineptitude.
There can no longer be any denial that this was all a well coordinated and well written road for G4 and G5 MLP after a certain point, cause now we know for absolute certain they didn’t have a clue what they were doing.
Props to Faust and many of the writers, character creators and song writers that actually put in effort. But as for the heads of big decision making in the 2 series, we can definitely say they deserved a lot of criticism for their extremely odd decisions.

It’s been 12 years since the season 3 finale… get over it.
Because there’s a lot of new fans and they end up having a lot of the same criticisms people had back in the day, I’m one of those new fans.
