/mlp/ make it a habit of exaggerating near everything to the point of absurdity. It makes starting arguments and discussions easier (for them) when everyone’s yelling and screaming.

Because not moot nor anyone else with power cares about /mlp/ at all. The only one who cares a little about it is the janitor and he barely does anything there.
Well, I noticed my mom’s Facebook while assisting her in setting up the Kindle I had purchased for her, and noted the pony avatar (a pegasus OC drawing at that) in her friends list. So I said, “Ah, I see you’re friends with bronies!” And she said, “yeah, some of [your brother’s] friends.”
And I left it at that. She already knew I was an MLP fan, anyway.
He kept himself from doing it and saw he had a problem. Same thing happened to me. I went back and rewatched episodes until I was a more reasonable human again.
You obviously haven’t been to /mlp/. Go and be there for a moment and see how things roll there. It’s just their way of being.
