Headcanon: Pillow Talk is not Snails mother because she’s infirtile.  
Her husband paid Poppy Somnifer to bare a child for them.
 
Poppy’s additude towards Snails is hugely based on the fact she does not want him to grow attached to her but to his “real mother”.
