Then Twilight would leave Equestria without a leader.

I hate Discord.
IT would be really tragic if it was revealed that Celestia and Luna gave Discord that order.
@Prince Thunder Spark
Certainly he acts impulsively and childlike. That’s just his personality. But he would never do something so cruel or extreme and precarious and act like he doesn’t even care about his friends. That’s the sadistic Season 2 Discord.

Yeah, I agree completely. So I’m a bit iffy on the end of series twist, but maybe in his own way he hoped they could learn the magic or friendship or something. Sure it isn’t a good idea, but discord often acts impulsively and childlike
@Prince Thunder Spark
The chaos Discord causes these days manifests as pulling some annoying pranks and causing a little harmless trouble. Not being mean and cruel and intentionally trying to harm ponies or make them miserable, or unleashing evil villains on Equestria just for the heck of some badly-thought-out and precarious preparation test. That’s not who Discord is anymore. Look at To Where And Back Again or Discordant Harmony. Discord’s a nice guy these days, and he cares a lot about his friends. He wouldn’t go risking the lives of ponies for the sake of fulfilling his ego or pulling a test. Maybe in Season 3 or 4, but certainly not now. You may as well turn Starlight Glimmer back into a brainwasher, or Luna back into a nightmare tyrant.

Just to add my input, I see him and q from star trek as the same, which they are. But unlike q, discord has a bit of a larger presence, which factors into how he got redeemed, but being redeemed doesn’t mean he has to be a goody two shoes or never do anything chaotic or mean, and this twist does make me scratch my head a little, as he does act a bit too vile compared to previously. I think a good discord should be written like this: may cause chaotic things or refuse to help as he wants the main six to do it themselves, but he should draw the line at hurting them, especially Fluttershy. But I must be honest, having the villians work together purposefully to hopefully teach friendship sounds quite ingenious, show them it’s advantages and then make em think, hopefully bring em to the good side. But again, that’s just me.
@Background Pony #6418
Yeah, that’s objectively not true. Discord is not vile and irredeemable at all. They’ve abused him in the past seasons.
Background Pony #803D
@PurpleWonderPower
But you ARE exaggerating. I have no idea why people build some warped headcanon versions of show characters that have nothing in common with the real deal - Discord is the same character he always was. Vile, irredeemable karma houdini mes ponies for kicks. He did literally the same thing as in Best Gift Ever (and like 4 or 5 past episodes) - created problem himself to giggle how his victims try to solve it. Only this time the ‘problem’ was something that could bite back, and did. If there is anything bad in this episode, it’s him weaseling out of responsibility for making 3 harmless, broken antagonists into a major threat, he should be stoned first…

For the third flippin’ time, I am NOT saying it ISN’T canon, I said I prefer to not TREAT it as canon. I am certainly not “exaggerating my point by saying what happened in the show didn’t happen in the show”. You’re just point blank making that up. I just prefer to ignore certain episodes because they’re awful, and I don’t like to include them. That in no way whatsoever implies I’m saying they AREN’T canon. Because they are, and I’m not. I just prefer to ignore them.
Background Pony #E726
@PurpleWonderPower
Ok then, I will be frank with you, I literally said it means the same but it is still better to not say it that way, why you may ask? Well how canon the show is no where CLOSE to be decided by you or anyone of us. You can just ignore it all you want but the show IS what it is and you can’t change that fact. It is petty that you use a word that can’t mean anything else and you basically said the show is not canon, yes it is just semantics but I just don’t understand the need to exaggerate your point by saying “what happen in the show did not happen in the show”, when you don’t need to and have other choice of words, that’s all.

Also I know at this point I am being extremely petty as well but I just hate people doing that, I am sorry.
@Background Pony #EA11
Discord is my favourite character. I’m mad that they’re completely abusing him.

Ahh your just mad Discord is more popular then Bugbutt.
@Background Pony #DFF0
“I will treat it like it never existed” and “I will treat it like it’s not canon” literally mean the exact same thing. I’m not saying they AREN’T canon. There are just some episodes I hate, and prefer to just ignore them and not treat them as part of the series I like. That’s just ME. I fail to see what’s “dumb” or “petty” about that. I’m certain everybody does that with a few episodes.
Background Pony #E726
@PurpleWonderPower
I don’t think saying it as treating the show is not canon makes it better, you have every rights to hate the show for being this way and I am not blaming you for doing that, but the act of you treating the show not canon because you don’t like it is just very dumb, at least words like “I will treat it like it never existed” is better than “I will treat it like it is just literally never part of the actual show like some bad fan fiction or comics”, it means the same but saying it the way you do just seems a LOT more petty than a sound complaint.
@Background Pony #DFF0
Um excuse me, but that is not what I said. I certainly did not say if I don’t like something, it’s not canon. I said I don’t treat them as canon. I stick to seasons 1-7 because I hate 8 and 9, and there are several other episodes that I just like to ignore. I’m sure there are plenty of episodes you prefer to ignore. Perhaps you should read people’s comments a little more carefully before you reply and claim they said things they never said.
Background Pony #E726
@PurpleWonderPower
Wow this is some impeccable logic here, I don’t like it so it is not canon? WOW this is some childish logic. If I have some episodes that is just absolutely hate like Non-Compete Clause, I would never watch it again but at least I understand the moral they try to convey and acknowledge it is just caused by bad writing. Being so petty about things you don’t like to literally say the actual show is not canon is just so dumb, please don’t do that.

I mean, Starlight wouldn’t have saved the day if Discord hadn’t baited Tirek into attacking him. He caused the problems; I can’t deny that, but he did help fix what he did.

So Discord destroyed the Elements of Harmony, and then got the Two villains who previously defeated him turned into stone while killing off a potential threat

Yet we are supposed to think that he didn’t do this on purpose?
I always thought that discord was suppose to be chaotic neutral(at least since season 4), so I have no problem with him causing some chaos in a indirect(way). My head canon is that he is a chaotic being, and he have urges to create chaos even when he is on the good side, which sometimes gets out of hand(like in season 4, although this case is different).

I agree. I don’t count Dungeons and Discords or any Discord episode after Discordant Harmony as canon. And What About Discord, but that’s only because it’s too cringy to watch anyway.

I only treat Discord as canon when written by Confalone, Vogel, Lewis/Songco, McCarthy, Fox Brothers and Larson. It’s clear that Nicole Dubuc hate Discord for some unknown reason. Just look at it: she wrote two Discord epsiodes - Matter of Principals and this Finale. In both he was a miserable troublemaker who was defeated and in both Starlight Glimmer was a hero who saved the day.
