Yeah. It was definitely a “have your cake and eat it too” thing they did. They wanted to do their own thing, but they also wanted them to be “100% canon” and kept arguing the point. All it did was attract a ton of negative attention. Best thing Andy Price could have said when asked if they were canon? “I dunno, I just draw ponies” XD

Heh, yeah, if only… To be honest, it would be possible to just coordinate the events of the comics and the series more carefully. But no. Their series develops independently of the comics. A lot of the comics fit into the canon of the series, but there, as they say in my homeland, “the devil will break his leg.” Nevertheless, if everything is properly combined, with theories, small and small headcanon and other means, then it is possible to create a single canonical universe. The bad thing is that Hasbro doesn’t want a normal, sophisticated and interesting universe, but money. If MYM is even more or less understandable and embedded, then TYT has turned the magic of friendship and rainbow power from a super-powerful weapon to prevent apocalypses into some kind of farce with amusement parks and semi-soap rainbows. Well, I’m personally glad that the status of the comics has not been determined, it’s more interesting for me to dig into the history of XD.

Yeah. I don’t understand why they didn’t just set the comics in an alternate universe. Multiverses were a thing in comics long before the MCU came along, the show already dealt with alternate universes with Equestria Girls, and the comics also dealt with alternate universes with the Mirror Universe. Alternate universes are, canonically, a thing, and they are a thing that anyone who cares about “canon” understands as a comic. So have a comic universe and a show universe and everything is canon even if nothing lines up, problem solved. They could even do cool stuff like have the comic and show universe characters collide and make character-based jokes at the little differences between them and their worlds, and it ends with them not knowing which Pinkie Pie they got and Pinkie Pie just doesn’t care XD

Well, along with other factors, comics are SOOOOO incomprehensible and confusing, especially if you want to prove the canonicity of any controversial events (trying to prove the canonicity of “Siege of Crystal Empire”, I eventually came up with the theory that it happens after the events, probably not yet planned, comic season 10, for example). So comics are for those who don’t care what happens there, who just want to know more canonical information, while not caring about their personal lives. Like me).

I’ve honestly just legit never paid any attention to the comics. The only one I ever ended up reading was the Dragontown one, which was SO bad I could not believe it, and then the creators of the comics basically acted like supreme buttholes: stuff like saying douchey stuff on social media and overreacting to critics and the like. Whole thing was a massive turnoff for me, and I just ignored that entire part of MLP ever since XD

By the way, comics are certainly a controversial thing, but for now and only as long as they do not deviate from the canon, they can be considered canonical. In one of the comics of the main line. Twilight and her friends turned into apple vampires (like Flatterbat, only with intelligence), perhaps Twilight is not afraid of “half-bat” ponies, or her consciousness was magically altered during the transformation to avoid existential paradoxes. I’m leaning towards the first version because of its relationship to batponies (and as far as I know, it’s as neutral as it is to ponies). Perhaps her phobia was even invented, since she has a neutral attitude towards vampire bats, correct me if my memory is wrong. And if you count the so-called “Heart of Everfree” arch (also from the main line), she is also not afraid of fawns (there she met a fawn, but her attitude was neutral). By the way, yes, Twilight has a phobia of ladybugs. Starlight treated her with hypnosis, and due to Pinkie’s intervention, she accidentally programmed Twilight to want to fly kites when she saw ladybirds)). This is my personal opinion, of course.

At this point if it’s an animal with traditionally “villainous” connotations (snakes, bats, sharks, vultures, rats, etc) or an innocuous thing with “spots” (cheese, ladybugs, baby deer, Connect Four), I assume Twiggles is afraid of it XD

you know i wonder if Neighsay having a technically non pony as a wife…maybe he would be reformed by it? That or she might just threaten him to make him with a bite behave and clean his racist brain or something…idk but I like the concept

Ropey body plus cold-blooded physiology plus sapience plus advanced emotions = total cuddle fiends. They even cuddle with perfect strangers and a lamia inn basically consists of a big pile of cuddling sneks. Warm-blooded species stay for free XD
