I second your opinion.
If this is just used by itself it’s just Shining looking at a bright thing (dilated pupils) while squinting with one eye.
With creepypasta, it’s him having a mental breakdown.
This seems to be more scary by association and creepypasta than actually scary. I saw none of this in the original episode and think it’s only scary because of what people here have made it out to be.

I just re-read the tagging guidelines and I think I misread “psychotic breakdowns” as “psychological breakdowns.”
