Fantastic. The different degrees of transformation was a nice detail, as was giving the some of the guards different facial expressions to their transformations.

i was thinking it’s both in the NMM timeline but they are natural race in the show so it’s cool because bat ponies are always cool

I just like the idea of them being a naturally occuring race the most, as well. Perfectly willing to suspend it for the sake of art, or fanfics, though. All of which pick and choose from the show and books and comics anyways to make them interesting. Like, imagine if Fallout Equestria had to use pies, spears and other thrown junk, instead of guns.
 
I could certainly see a timeline where NMM created the batponies from pegasi during her reign and they just were a thing forever after. Some perhaps seeing what NMM did to them as a boon rather than a curse in time and rejecting attempts/offers to be turned back.

oh ok i don’t conciser the books canon and i thought they were transformed Pegasus but i would say yes they are a separate race of pony because i don’t think luna would transform ponies into bats soooooo ya i would say it’s both but mostly they are a real race of pony in equestria

A book called Princess Luna and the Festival of the Winter Moon a bit of a kiddie story, but it presents some interesting background if nothing else.

Very nice and awesome art, though I disagree with the premise. There’s canon material that states that Luna’s guards in Luna Eclipsed, Echo and Nocturne, are of a different race, not transformed pegasi.
