True. Inbreeding is the only real problem with incest. If you’re not gonna have babies, then there’s technically nothing wrong with having sex with immediate family, provided everyone knows and consents to what they’re doing.

From what I can tell, the general rule of thumb is that fifth cousins or further and you’re fine. Third or fourth is iffy, and first and second is definitely no-go territory.

Well, if you trace back through the lineages of both you and literally any other person on Earth, the two will meet up eventually, so everyone is cousins with everyone else. The same would presumably be true on whatever planet Equestria is a part of.

Even first cousins isn’t a problem, so long as it doesn’t continue past that. It’s when multiple generations inbreed that the defects start to pop up.
Also, if you’re not having kids, that’s not an issue at all. It’s just the stigma.
