@Background Pony #5463
“I feel like it all started when she tried to get into Celestia’s school, but she failed the test and reading too many advanced books at a very young age caused her imagination to run wild”
“I mean…all she need to do to the test was cook the egg into an omlette yet she managed to fail even that” Kappa
I had the same theory too, in fact I have in my theory imply that Ponyville is actually a psychiatrist or a place to treat psychological problems. And that the mane 6 are patients there. And that at the end of the series it indicates that the mane 5 have recovered or overcome their “problems”, except Twilight who still lives that dream, however she is still visited by her friends to accompany her.

Sighs This is going nowhere…I’m spelling it out, but you’re not listening! Your troubled school days, how you’re conflicted about marriage… your denial of death, the unfounded guilt, abnormal sexuality…Eighteen years of denial!
A whole universe of fantasy in that thick skull of yours! A skull teaming with agents of repression. …Blind foals clutching photos in the dark. Fantastical monsters from changelings to gods of chaos!
The term is ‘complicated grief’. But it’s simple, isn’t it? A young filly… Her parents don’t get along, they’re too busy blaming each-other then to pay any attention to her. She blames herself, as all children do. Her brother’s out of the picture by now after all, running from this crumbling house of cards and leaving her completely alone. So they give her a pet, hoping to distract her from the crumbling state of their marriage and give their anti-social little filly SOME kind of friend. And it works! It works too well; she becomes so attached to this little dragon that he becomes her anchor, her only source of stability in a rapidly changing tumultuous world that forced her to grow up far too quick. Then, he dies; completely by accident. What’s a filly to do? Deny that their pet, no ‘best friend’ ever died. Deny who they even were? What eight year old doesn’t have an active imagination after all?
So she obsesses and obsesses over this fantasy, propping up her make-believe with scraps… Scraps of a happy life that never was. Scraps of a creature- no, creatures who never existed… Wake up!
You’re not a hero, nor a great arch-mage vanquishing of evil with a merry band of comrades! You are just a pony. You never knew these creatures, and you never will. The ponies walking around in your head even ghosts! They never existed. Just like this Spike never existed. The Spike in your head is a Frankenstein’s monster, a child’s fantasy…
But you’re alive. Your brother is alive; He’s not the monster you make him out to be! You need to live your life…
Shoot.

I like it and it terrifies me at the same time because it makes too much sense.
