Unfortunately this is what this “community” has turned into. The whole concept of “love, tollerance and freindship” has rapidly devolved into a melting pot of discontentment, segregation and greed. What had started out as a fandom that had brought people together has now ironically enough become the very thing it proclaimed to be against. It’s not Hasbro, not entirely anyway but opportunists who took and take advantage of the charity of others. Conventions being used as a front to pocket the proceeds for themselves, people who make up bogus stories of abuse or something similar just so they don’t have to earn anything themselves. The list goes on.
I appologise if I’m coming off as dark or negative. I am not trying to start hostilites either but I have noticed these things within this fandom for a long time now. That’s not to say that there aren’t any decent people left in this community there are still good people here. But there is a lot wrong with the rest.
Absolutely! The only Hasbro property I can think of that hasn’t been dragged out past its natural conclusion was Jem, which was canceled before its natural conclusion due to poor toy sales (because the toys were frankly pretty ugly). As you said, it’s nothing new.
Considering that they are a toy company and have been doing this since the original iteration back in the 80’s, you’re not exactly wrong, they’ve been doing this for more than 30 years.
It wasn’t my intention to offend in that regard, but aside from the main point I wanted to joke about how Hasbro likes to favor certain characters over Applejack others when it comes to merchandise.
Besides, I figured the visual of “beating the dead horse” was a safer choice than “milking the cash cow”…
This is what season 9 felt like to me, just a corpse of it’s former glory being dragged and paraded around by people who didn’t even want to do anything with it
