Yeah. The Wilhelm Scream sound was originate from a 1950s movie called “Distant Drums”. And this sound effect was used in various productions including the Star Wars franchise, Toy Story, Cars 1 and 2, Enchanted, Titanic, Hercules, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 1 and 2, Shrek the Third, Madagascar, The Legend of Mor’du, etc…

Well, in Rainbow Rocks, the Whilhelm Scream can be heard when the Rainbooms fall into the basement of the amphitheater. And when Midnight Sparkle attack Canterlot High at the climax of Friendship Games, the Whilhelm Scream can be heard when the dimension rift to Ponyville with Shoeshine in it opens.

That quote was made during the early 2010s. And he was referring to moments where it wasn’t really needed like with Applebloom falling over.
Rather interesting, and unfortunate, that the sound effect for a man getting eaten by a crocodile(?) has been used with such frequency, and more often than not inappropriately, that it’s more a comedic thing than something to be taken seriously anymore.

Not to my knowledge, I’d say it only happened in the 1st and 4th movies.
But yeah, looking back, I think this show had slightly more Wilhelm Scream moments than Star Wars and Lord of the Rings combined. …And I can’t help but feel happy about that.
Huh… I had no idea the Tatzlwurm can do a Wilhelm scream. And yes, I looked up EVERY bit of those clips. …The ones where I didn’t hear the sound effect straight away.

That’s the funniest thing about the sound; it didn’t originate from Star Wars, and yet it fits rather comfortably in those movies.

It’s still a good sound effect to use in action movies. Especially when used at the proper time.
