The two major cities of Equestria, Canterlot and Ponyville, have either been overrun or completely destroyed by an unknown enemy and the whole country is now on the brink of collapse, or something may have happened to Princess Twilight and there’s no one else to take her place, thus causing Equestria to plummet into a state of total anarchy.
IF G5 really is in the same continuity as G4, then they HAVE to have the trio free from their stone prison, since this appears to be the Equestria both devoid of magic like what Cozy Glow wanted in Season 8, and broken up by pony type the way trio tried in Season 9.

We don’t have nearly enough informations so people are naturally filling the vacuum with speculations. There’s the pessimists who got burned off by previous experiences they disliked so it’s fair that they are wary and optimists who do hope that things happen as you say

And so Mane6 are the only heroes ever known? Like each generation after that never did anything heroic and ponies just happen to completely separate eachother while still producing Mane6 merchandise? This is some plot hole filled story. Not to mention like Discord should literally be there to tell the story.
Simple this takes place in the distant future in an Equestria void of Magic clearly the fallout from the actions of a villian or catastrophic event. The Mane 6, the Princess, and everyone else are likely all long gone or at least out of commission. Nothing last forever.
Your claiming plot holes without as much as seeing a clip of the movie, and that Star Wars comparison was such a reach it’s ridiculous.

Yeah but you’d figure after nearly being struck with the same ice age that nearly wiped out their species millennia ago, they’d learn to maybe try the one world alliance and stick with it.
