This artist has a good collection of quality works, I see.
I’m again very pleased with the background. Very sterile, very silver or chrome, and again neither overly- or underdone. It would seem to appear Twilight herself isn’t an alacorn here, as I don’t believe the ridges along her coat are hinting at underlying wings; I’d expect those to create larger lumps beneath the fabric, especially given this artist’s style, if she was supposed to keep them under the garment for any particular reason.
I specifically like that the umbilical cord was included, and that a cutiemark was not: The cord gives an organic feeling to the piece that’s furthered by softly acknowledging that even cloned ponies would have to find their own marks in the world. Even if they wound up with identical special talents by the end of things, they still can’t be born with that discovery. Also, I like how the umbilical cord itself looks. Where it connects, I get the feeling of a ‘tougher’ sort of organics at play, given the ridges and the structure’s thickness.
The monitoring cords and patches keep pulling my eyes back to themselves as well… They get across that a monitoring process is taking place, but also that the process isn’t aggressively invasive. Just… watching. Quietly. The farthest-right cord seems to just disappear, though. Maybe it’s connected to her spine?
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention - I’m not sure if the coloration was intended, but it looks to me like Twilight’s eyes have a touch of pink to them, like she’s been working particularly hard lately, at least in pair with the angle of her eyelashes and the relative blankness of her expression. In fact, the clone she’s observing almost looks more peaceful than the Twilight on the outside.
Honestly, I haven’t complete backstory, there are only scattered thoughts ed through my head when I was drawing it.
Twilight probably is senior researcher in some organization that she doesn’t own; her bosses want to create a perfect being with flawless physical and mental condition and without any inherited diseases (I don’t know why); after some failures Twilight decided to use her own genetic material and so far this is the most successful attempt; later a one most perfect clone will “born”, and Twilight will have a motherly relationship with him for a short time; and as always the experiment will get out of control in the end, since no any effective methods of suppression were created; the alicorn got her freedom and no one knows what will happen next.
Something like that, just a full set of cliches, I know.
shit this art is so amazing… as is basically all your art. Perspective, composition, materials… everything in this is exceptionally well made. Seriously, I’m having a bit of a fangasm right now.
