Not exactly, they made a appearance in the new film.

I’m just going to put in my two cents here.  
On one hand, I’m glad this leak that happened back in 2017 (the old G5 designs from the leaked emails before the G5 we got today, because that same 2017 email leak was also how we found out about FIM ending on season 9, mind you), has aged like milk, because we all knew that Hasbro wasn’t going to use these designs due to fears of backlash from fans! But, on the other hand, 5 new characters, with 2 made by one of our own, it’s sad that the mane six were officially retired because all the voice actors and the crew from G4 have since moved on to grater pastures and we should all wish them the best in their future endeavors! But, the new voice actors and crew of g5 have some really big shoes to fill! So, we should wish them luck!

On the one hand lack of them seems…,well lacking, but at the same time i think diferent cast wouldn’t be a problem.

I hate how this wasn’t used, MLP could have been like Transformers where the same core cast is kept but the setting changes. Instead it’s just making fim worse.

BTW AJ is in G5 - collectable figure i movie but it’s something :D

Flash wasn’t discontinued, the flash player plugin for web browsers was discontinued. Flash as animation software is unlikely to be going anywhere.

I always assumed it was just concept art. With Flash being discontinued and the show’s animation becoming dated, a change in animation felt obvious.

I’m glad they didn’t reinvent the characters from MLP FiM for G5, and that there’s a focus on a new cast of characters while existing in the same universe as MLP FiM. I’m just so glad for how wrong all this supposed fanart was and I could never be happier for that.

I’m guessing they changed course after seeing the fan reactions to the leaked info.
