That’s an interesting theory. While it’s been acknowledged that AJ and Apple Bloom lost their parents, we don’t know how or when it happened. For me, at least, showing how Bright Mac and Pear Butter lived their lives is way more important than showing how their lives came to an end. Which, of course, allows for wonderful images like this one…

I think most people see the Mane six in their early 20s at least at the start of the show.
Say Big mac is 15 or 16 here, AJ 12 or 13 and AppleBloom 4 or 5. The title implies that their parents are not long for this world so any memories AB would have be fuzzy and vague as she grew up. Enough to need to ask her sibling for what her parents were like. Now say AJ is 21 in the show, AB would be 13 herself. Still young enough to a naive childlike youngster but old enough to be going around on CMC adventures.
