There are a few explanations for those points. The ponies in Equestria have simply evolved to be emotive and to speak, like humans did from apes. As for the mythical creatures in Equestria they have been fused together with magic, or simply to put it, exist in the MLP universe. But magic doesn’t exist on Earth either, and it just isn’t the reality of our world.
Desperately wanting/willing something to be true and it actually being are two totally different things.
By MLP universe I take it that you mean conceptually not an actual physical tangible universe yes?

Having to believe and justify MLPFIM with your own hypothesis and “facts” based on literally nothing totally misses the entire point of MLP and the fantasy genre in general. It also shows a complete lack of imagination and the ability for abstract thought. Animation and cartoons by definition aren’t reliant on the laws of reality and it’s principles.
Unwarranted role play and some ones projected head cannon masquerading as fact will never cease to be insufferably cringe and really kinda sad. But that’s a large portion of every fandom and really sort of humorous through the right lens.

The fact that you suggested that humans came from apes makes me discredit your whole statement. No, humans didn’t come from apes, that was an archaic hypothesis created by Charles Darwin many centuries ago, and even he had doubts about how accurate that theory was. No, we share a common ancestor, but we aren’t apes.
As for Equestria, it is a fictional locale, and I hate it when people like you try to act like it is real. No, the creators of the show didn’t take zoology classes in college to get an expert understanding of how animal biology works, outside of the basics. And they didn’t need to, since the characters were cartoons and therefore could be used in a variety of ways that don’t apply to real world biology, either.

Frankly, the entire world of Equestria takes a lot of inspiration from Greek and Roman mythology, including many creatures that don’t exist whatsoever (like griffins, hippogriffs, and dragons). So know that there are a lot of things in Equestria that don’t ‘line up’ with reality for the simple reason that it isn’t meant to be reality.

True, but I do think that butterflies are a lot prettier than moths are, due to their intricate designs. I think the artist made the right decision making this a butterfly.
