And that is exactly what is wrong with this new series, what is wrong with modern story telling in general. In order to tell this new story, they had to destroy all the successes and the accomplishments of those that came before.
This is touching and sad at the same time, because Twilight was successful for a while and then her success was shattered and Equestria returned to being a land of three species.
But at least there is hope for the future. (Let’s just hope Twilight or Flurry Heart repeat Luna’s story).
It makes for a realistic story that actually fits well with what has happened before in our history.
Extending G4 would actually be better, because that would mean moving forwards instead of forcing things to go back to square one.
