Yeah, honestly, the alicorn drama wasn’t even a blip on the radar. This was ant poop compared to the shitstorm around Star Wars.
I don’t care that Twilight became an alicorn early in the show (at least she did something to become an alicorn unlike Flurry Heart). I’m just upset about that stupid Grogar is Discord plot twist that ruined season 9 and the show forever. That was much worse.
Controversy leads to ruin. I have said it before and I say it again.
If not for the drama regarding these changes, if people did accept change regardless of being good or bad, the show wouldn’t have quality decline, the franchise wouldn’t become niche and lesser-known, and fans wouldn’t leave the fandom or lose interest.
Yeah I’m going to call bullshit on that, because although the OP is being hyperbolic with regards to comparisons to other fandoms, they are right about the size of the one-two punch of Twilicorn and Equestria Girls.
