I majored in English literature. Of course they would want to simulate something from English speaking countries. And trust me, English is nothing compared to the atrocitiy that is the Chinese language. I mean one is an international language while the other isn’t.

Do they even have Spelling Bees in your country? I thought that was only an English language thing because of how complicated that language is (largely due to the sheer number of loan words found in the language, resulting in it not having a consistent rule system for spelling).
