Yes, it is obviously a continuation, not a reboot. And also, I think everypony could always use magic, though in G4 the Earth pony magic seemed to be super strength.

Honestly, I am glad that is the case as well. Frankly I think both gens exist more or less cordially with each other, which I really like.
