Since the first death by headshot was Tuco Salamanca, and there were none between him and his cousin Marco when he tried to kill Hank with an axe to avenge him, it likely must’ve been near, if not at the end of season 3 (there were quite a few headshots around that time of the series, with Gale’s to cap it off — no pun intended).
Too bad for you, Gus was an amazing antagonist all throughout season 4.

I haven’t seen Breaking Bad, but most of Giancarlo Esposito’s characters are downright terrifying. How worried should we be?
Gus is someone who can switch from mild-mannered fast food restaurant manager to stone-cold drug kingpin at the drop of a proverbial hat, and is capable of walking into sniper fire and making the sniper back off by daring him to shoot him, so to answer your question: yes.
