Ethereal Armor is a natural fit for a Zur deck, as is Greater Auramancy. In fact, if you can get out Greater Auramancy before Zur attacks the first time, you don’t even need Diplomatic Immunity, and can instead search for something like Steel of the Godhead to protect him from dying in combat.

You can also use Ethereal Armor. First strike and +1/+1 for each enchantment you control. Plus, it only costs 1W so you can pull it out with Zur.

Also you might consider Righteous Authority. You can’t search for it with his ability, but if you combo it with something that takes away your maximum hand size (like Reliquary Tower), and Necropotence (which you CAN search for) then every attack becomes deadly.

Ah Zur, such a great commander. I assume you are running Diplomatic Immunity, that is usually the first thing a friend of mine grabs.

oy thats pretty rough, my own personal 4th turn win combo goes:
T1 Forest, wasteland viper
T2 Mountain, Emissary, Farseek into Temple Garden
T3 Mountian, Rubblebelt Raiders
T4 Attack with everything, Raiders becomes a 6/6, then Bloodrush a Ghor-Clan Rampager and cast a Boros Charm for the double strike onto the Raiders making it a 10/10 with double strike and trample combined with the Emissary and the Viper that’s 23 damage.
I’ve actually been able to pull this off.

gruul is very fun. how’s this for a game? playing a pal of mine he was using azorius orhov he chose both for prerelese he’s a big fan of both.

That sounds pretty cool, just watch out for Eon Hub. Are you doing that combo in Legacy or EDH? My favorite combo for EDH right now is Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind + Mindmoil + Maelstrom Wanderer. Assuming I have 5 cards in hand at the start of the combo, I cast MW which, because of the double cascade, will trigger Mindmoil 3 times. Then because I am tucking my hand and drawing 5 new cards 3 times, that triggers Niv-Mizzet 15 times allowing me to deal 15 damage divided as I choose. The thing is, with my MW deck, it’s not uncommon for me to have a hand of 20+ cards, meaning this combo is often a game finisher. Assuming I can pull it off.

I prefer a mix of Azorius and Orzhov. I love just sitting there and watching my opponents’ life drop without them able to do anything.
My most recent deck accomplishes this with a combination of Subversion, Agent of Masks, Enchanted Evening, and Opalescense (EE+O turns all lands into 0/0 Land Enchantment Creatures as soon as they hit the field, Subversion and AoM are “free” upkeep Extorts).

Rakdos is a pretty cool guild too, Exava is my 3rd favorite runner after Ruric Thar and Varolz. At the Dragon’s Maze game day, I got 5th place out of 16 people with a mostly Gruul deck that splashed white for Boros charms and Unflinching Courage. I only got out Ruric Thar a few times but I won every game that I did.

Yeah l wanted to go Gruul but lve been Rakdos since RtR prerelease. Now that unleash got buffed with Exava l am very glad l did. l dabbled in gruul and boros thoug. for example l went 3-1 in dragon maze prerelease. with boros rakdos mix. l did have three of one gruul card though rubblebelt makka. too good as a closer bloodrush with battalion. lost to a scrubby orzov player becase l was land flood one game and the next nothing but spells. l mulled three times that second game. bad luck…

l know but l only play standard. that would ruin every game what with all these new gruul cards. imagine borborygmos enraged Ruric Thar, the Unbowed

In my opinion, reprints make a custom set feel more like a real set, which is why I included them in mine. I kept the number down though. Too many reprints and it starts to stifle the flavor of a custom set.

It’s EDH. The commander is Zur, and the first two enchantments I’d grab with him are Propaganda and Ghostly Prison.

I’ve already got Fling, Confiscate, Silence, Mind Control, and Dragon Roost as “reprints.”
I’m trying to make it a large set, but I’m stuck at 158/250(ish) cards. (In case you’re curious, my custom set can be found here.
