Well, actually due to a large amount of factors my nostalgia only covers the timeline before 2001, with any nostalgic feelings towards anything that was after being dimmer each year.
But the tragedy of this image is the fact that the world becomes more and more… unpleasant, to put it mildly each year, so no wonder someone would have nostalgic feeling towards the still-grim 2014.
To be honest, I get that people try so hard sometimes to say it’s a bittersweet sentiment and it’s not good to be stuck in the past. I truly understand, even when your past was terrible. But well, my view is, despite having a pretty good childhood, some things got messed up in my teenage years due to bullying, self-perceived hate, and all the religious baggage that I had to endure. The indoctrination I suffered and other things are now gone. And though I them and know they were the horrible parts of my past, I also how I used to be more creative, more bold, more productive, and some really great things I achieved in the past.
My recent years are not bad at all. I think I’ve been improving a lot in so many areas. Some of my traumas and deep hurts are healing right now. I’ve been doing what I love and enjoy, trying to get better in art, and I had a pretty memorable trip that I’m going to look back on and fondly because I had so much fun. Of course, some things need to get better, like my anger issues and all, but I’m really better. When I was in the deep sea of my depression, my anger, and my trauma, I used to look to the past for comfort. Maybe I wasn’t so happy back then, but ing those things helped me in the struggling moments.
I don’t have a lot of nostalgia for the past. 10 years ago, I was depressed. Ever since then I have the worldview that things overall must have improved because I am not feeling as awful as I used to anymore.
Even recently, thing have gotten better. I am earning my own income now that I finished university. Which means that I could finally move away from my awful family.
I could focus on my depressive coping symptoms having become more prevalent again in the past 6 months, but I feel like it is much better to focus on the positive aspects that are still improving. Enjoy life as much as I can.
I really wouldn’t want to end up like the pony in the image. That looks like a terrible existence. Always looking to the past for better times, a time that does not exist anymore and may have never existed.
Not true, 2014 or earlier times were actually good lol. Mostly because for a lot of people with such sentiments they were not really adults at that point so didn’t have a bunch of responsibilities and etc. Not to mention I think the internet was less of a trashfire back then because not everything revolved around Twitter insanity. If anything we’ve just gotten used to the crazy state things are in now.
The thing about nostalgia is that I see it as both a lie and truth.
Nostalgia might make us think it was way better than it was and forget the worse parts, but it might also make us appreciate the stuff we took for granted.
thank you, i apreciate your wishes
wish your life will get more good!

I thought I’m the only who perceive time exactly like this. Somehow several years seem to be just gone nowhere.

You’re doing the thing in the meme.
Edited because: typo, correcting words
2012 was six years ago, right?

American politics was ruined since 2016 and it feels like we’re in that arc.
The world ended on 2020 so you’re not wrong.
Those were definitely better years than 2014 for me, 2014 was an all time low and I don’t want to any of it tbh xD
Same. Those were better years for me.
