Likely because it could have caused more issues like that if it had been allowed to continue. In the end, Hasbro banned Jan from interacting with their IP and ghosted him.

No, the dark brown Button Mash appeared in the show first (even before the fan made videos were made). Here he is in the Season 2 episode Hearts and Hooves Day:
But after the Button Mash fan made videos came out, they tweaked his canon design to a lighter brown. Here he is in the Season 5 episode Crusaders of the Lost Mark:
12? That’s a lot to hold. Twilight’s lucky she only has to hold Spike’s lead. Even though a young age, since he’s only 1 person. Spike even helps Twilight from time to time, and a lot. So Twilight is so lucky.

I first thought it really was Cheerilee. Search results did not pop this up so when I do find it again, I checked the tags and realised that oh it’s her twin sister. The hair definitely matches.

Oh yeah, this is Cheerlie’s sister from the comics. Her cutie mark was covered so maybe people thought she was Cheerlie instead. Easy mistake to make.

Then why receive the C&D when they could’ve just changed it anyway??
This seems to imply they lost the trademark to his design due to Jan. Which, if true, does explain some things…
Excuse my lack of pony fandom lore. Thank you for correcting me.

your current filter.
your current filter.I am pretty sure just the open colored one made an apperance in the show, once or twice, as a referance to Button Mash.
They were both in the series.

Read the description. The artist headcanons the two different canon designs made for him as twins.

@genervt
Good thing she isn’t.
