Nestled within the Vale of Trottingham is the small agricultural town of Hickory Falls, which marks the halfway point of the Trottingham Vale Light Railway. The ponies that live and work here take great pride in their local landmark; a series of magnificent waterfalls that gives the town its name, starting from high above in the dense woodland and running through the town to meet with a great lake several miles down river. Ponies across Equestria have made the long journey to this remote landmark and the arrival of the Trottingham Vale Light Railway only made this journey easier.
When the railway was first built it was decided that the best way to cross the gorge formed by the river and its waterfalls would be with the construction of a magnificent three-span viaduct, which perfectly framed the falls as visitors made their way down from the station to the river. Today Hickory Falls remains one of the most popular locations on the railway with tourists flocking to see the falls and hike through the woods, while TVLR no. 3 “CADENCE” storms across the viaduct with its train ready for the gruelling climb to Colton and the second peak of the railway’s gradient…
