When I was young, I really liked My Little Pony. I had never watched the show, but I really liked the characters, Rainbow Dash especially. She was my imaginary friend for a long while during my childhood. Eventually, I grew out of my colt-brony phase.
Fast forward to some years later. I was 12. I don’t even how it happened, but it did.
I became an anti-brony.
Suddenly, a switch flicked in my head that made me absolutely hate anything and everything slightly remotely related to My Little Pony and its community. I would cut ties with or isolate myself from anybody who was a brony and/or pegasister. To me, I saw Rainbow Dash as “the worst thing in the world”. I had an equal hatred for every other pony. To make matters worse, I made it my entire personality and just had to make everyone know this about me. That’s the tip of the iceberg though, not as drastic as the gallery I had on my phone specifically dedicated to My Little Pony hate art and gore. If this doesn’t make anything obvious enough, nobody clearly wanted to be around me.
It took around some two years for me to finally realize that “This is stupid, childish, and a complete annex to my mental health”. (I already had that notion for quite some time, I just decided to finally give in) This is when I decide to delete my entire gallery containing the aforementioned “hate art”. After that, I kind of had an indifferent opinion towards ponies.
Fast forward half a year, I start feeling open towards MLP again.
Skip by a few months, I start dipping my toes a little, feeling a little dirty, but a warm welcome.
Some more months after that, I start to actually enjoy My Little Pony again. I thought it would be worth it to make my personality more loving ponies than hating a fictional mare’s guts.
As I’m writing this on the neo morning of May 29, 2025-my last day of Sophomore year of High School-, I have heavily planned my first watch of Friendship is Magic (by the time I this to NewGrounds, I’ve just finished the school year about over 4 hours ago). I sacrificed a majority of space on my computer’s hard drive specifically for the entirety of this show, all 9 seasons, specials, the movie, and other extras.
All of that starts tomorrow.
TL;DR - being an anti-brony was the lowest point of my entire life, and I’m happy to finally make a complete relapse into bronyhood tomorrow. If you’re one of the few remaining anti-bronies somewhere out there, please grow up and change as a person the same way as I did.
Before I finish my wall of text, I would like to say one more thing.
I’m sorry for everything that happened all those years ago, Rainbow Dash. You made me 20% cooler when I was 6 and will continue to at 16.
