ouch. reminds me of the time i tried Grilled Cheese made with Hardtack at a re-enactment.
(its a bread ration from Civil War period, super dense and dry and oh yeah Hard as a Brick till you add heavy moisture.
was why they tended to eat i by adding it to the camp stews
