Agreed, that’s terrible. I’ve been forced into that situation by insurance contracts, which are IME a lawyer-concocted scheme that somehow legalize ransom and hostage-taking under the guise of medical care that victims have already paid for. Because of such a contract, in my distant past, I HAD TO buy my insulins from CVS/Caremark (LoL), who almost always overcharged, short-changed me on medication amounts, AND mishandled the medication itself.
It’s too bad the clowns writing these contracts can’t somehow be given Type 1 diabetes, to see what it’s like needing medication to live, to feel how stressful it can be when insurance companies, pharmacies, etc., pull the rug out from under you, and suddenly you’re without something you need for daily survival.
No wonder every other country is pointing and laughing at us. When it comes to medical care, even the Ferengi wouldn’t treat one another as we do.

The reverse is also terrible. I had people who had to keep paying $50+ each month for brand when we had the equivalent generic on the shelf, purely because their insurance had contracted to exclusively cover the brand name product in exchange for a bigger rebate (which the insurance company could have pocketed, for all we know), and it took up to a year for their contract to expire.

Ugh, for real! As hard as it is to get our Adderall Rxs refilled, it’s been even worse for those taking Vyvanse. Ever since the generic version arrived on the market, insurance will ONLY cover the generic, so you can probably guess which version pharmacies never seem to have in-stock.
Oh but you’re welcome to pay the full retail price for name-brand Vyvanse! Only $470 for a month’s worth (30 capsules, 30 mg each)!

I ittedly get a little worked-up when I hear about or see idiots abusing population-specific drugs, especially prescription stimulants. Particularly because it has caused SO much trouble for those of us with real psychiatric conditions that require use of these medications.
