No specific reason. I just figured that they’re so used to almost every customer who sees there’s a place to doodle, with someone else’s markers and paper, taking the opportunity. Thus I thought the workers might not even bother to look at what people had drawn.
I’ve worked retail, so I completely understand the rush to clean up at the end of a long day. Basically, the game is, “do the important stuff on the closing checklist, as fast as possible (and before closing if you can get away with it)”. Taking the extra minute or so, to look at doodles, isn’t something I’d think they’d do.

At any art store I’ve been to, playing with the fun art stuff is the whole point. It not only helps people playing with the pens figure out what they like, it encourages others to play with the ones too. Too many people have the wrong attitude about art and art supplies. Encouraging exploration encourages more art and more art is good.
