1. Oleander/Sniper: Oleander is an expy of Twilight Sparkle, who has already been associated with the Sniper for various reasons, including intelligence and methodology. Note that she’s also using the Huntsman (bow and arrow) here, given that the tech level of Foenum seems to be lower than that of Equestria. That isn’t to imply that guns in Equestria are canon, though.
  2. Arizona/Engineer: Arizona is an expy of Applejack, who was already associated with the Engineer because of “southern/Texan/western/cowboy” associations.
  3. Paprika/Pyro: Connection to Pinkie Pie, and randomness/Cloudcukoolander tendencies, as seen in “Meet the Pyro” and the TF2 comics.
  4. Shanty/Scout: They’re both fast runners. Goats are also stereotyped as enjoying eating garbage, such as cans, and one of the Scout’s items is a can of Bonk Atomic Punch.
  5. Velvet/Spy: Pre-existing association with Rarity, whom Velvet is an expy of. Posh, prim, and proper. (Also, Spy has an ice weapon.)
  6. Nidra/Medic: Not quite sure what the connection is, but it may be a case of “pair the spares”. You only have 9 classes, and a limited amount of TFH characters.
  7. Pom/Heavy: Another unconventional connection, but Pom is known to have a righteous fury in defense of her dogs. Heavy also gets mad if you take his Sandvich, or Sasha (his minigun).
  8. Tianuho/Soldier: “If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight!” (Sun Tzu connection, and Tianhuo is literally a soldier, or rather, a captain.)
  9. Baihe/Demoman: Baihe has a scar on her nose, and Demoman is missing an eye. Baihe is also more tactically-minded than Tianhuo, and the Demoman gameplay loop is also a bit more tactical than the Soldier, whose playstyle has a lower skill floor.
