Last page of this episode. I have two new ones in the pipe. Sorry it’s been so long. Among other things, I’ve been getting perhaps overly ambitious with my sets, props, and lighting, which has made things take ages. 😅
Up next I have one ambitious episode, and one that is fairly simple sexy fun, which I’m going to work on in parallel, so hopefully you won’t have as long a wait.
@Stellarator
Well, now I’m just disappointed in myself for not recognizing one of my favorite SNES games. DKC2 was the first game I ever got 100% on. Luna has good taste.
I’m pretty sure I recognize and have used some of the test equipment on the top shelf. Sigh.
Oh no… XD I had hoped it would be generic and anonymous enough looking to for “random possibly inappropriately old electronics”. I even removed the model numbers, so nothing was obviously referring to something absurd.
I can’t get anything past you folks, can I? You keep me on my toes. 😅
Where is this? The heavy vaulting makes it look like the catacombs below the palace (which is the traditional place for a secret laboratory), but there appears to be a window in the next to last frame?
Hmm… thing that apparently didn’t come off the way I’d intended it. I had intended it to be clear that it was Luna’s excessively gothic study (as seen in previous episodes ages ago) though with a partial update/makeover, but that must not have been clear.
Also, the 10th frame has a chandelier full of candles (the magical kind that never burn down, presumably), but the next to last frame has a chandelier with light bulbs. I’m kinda lost on the physical relation between those two chandeliers…
That, my eagle-eyed reader, is a result of me doing that makeover to the set, adding some things that I thought fit her vibe…and not fully auditing how well it matched everything from before. XD
FWIW, I had envisioned them as magical candles. Living gods might through around magic unnecessarily, especially when it suits their style. :)
(Apologies for questions on stuff totally incidental to the story…this is a good episode, I like philosophical Luna)
No worries! For all that I do a lot of “😆” type reactions when people spot things like these, I know that you’re only doing it because you like what I do and found it interesting enough to peer into the details of. So I take it as a complement, even if it does make me sometimes wince at my own derps. It feels a lot like how I am ruthless with mistakes in Star Trek. :)
I appreciate a secret science lab that also has a NES, SNES, and Playstation hooked up to a proper CRTV. I can’t make out what cartridges those are, though. At a glance, the game in the Super Nintendo might be Starfox, but the resolution isn’t sharp enough for me to be sure.
:)
I figure to her they’re all just as newfangled. And if she’s going to play the classic ones, she’d get somepony to get the right hardware. It’s good to be the Princess.
Your split mirror effect of Luna and Twilight at s 8 and 9 was very nice.
It hints that that they are more alike than they realize and that Luna may have voiced the same concerns as Twilight many centuries ago.
That’s kind of what I was going for. Glad it came off.
I am adding the ‘Immortality Blues’ tag.
This comic (Luna) has the best arguement against most of the nonsense under that heading.
Hmm… that’s fair. I’m trying to take a positive spin on it rather than just being depressing, but I suppose it still counts.
You know, you often see immortal/functionally immortal characters who will talk about how it hurts to watch everyone you ever knew grow old and die while you remain the same, etc. And I’ll see people nod somberly as if this is deep.
But let me ask you this. You ever had a dog? Or a cat? Yes, I know dogs and cats aren’t humans. But that doesn’t mean it hurts less when they grow old and . And yet, not only do people still get them, they will often get ANOTHER one later.
So why would immortals be different? Sure, it hurts seeing those you love age and die. But ask anyone who has owned a dog or a cat, if they could go back and have never had that pet in the first place, would they do it? No. Because the time they cherished with that pet far outweighs the pain of the loss.
That is more or less how I envision Luna seeing it, and what she’s trying to convey. More or less what she said to Sonata a while ago.

Electronics from the 60’s and 70’s, plastic bins and camera from the 90’s, modern computer case LED lighting ( 3), and a blender from the 2200’s on the workbench. Smoooth!(-ies?) XD
I’m pretty sure I recognize and have used some of the test equipment on the top shelf. Sigh.
Fantastic! Another great page, and I find Twilight’s pose in 1 to be very sexy (idk why).
It’s always nice to get a positive reaction like that. :D
“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may” was probably written by Luna in this AU; from a slightly different perspective.
Yeah, basically.
Return of the eclectic technology. You put a lot of work into this.
I did! It’s a combination of modeling and kitbashing, with a lot of texture/materials work. And rigging, but you don’t see that, obviously.

Since it’s my fantasy world, with magic and technology, it’s fun to mix and match as I please. I’m going to the handy term “eclectic technology”
and a blender from the 2200’s on the workbench. Smoooth!(-ies?) XD
Since you pointed that out in the other thread, I now can’t unsee it.
Also, a lighted keyboard (left-handed mouse?), curved monitor, CRT monitor, and multiple game consoles in the second-to-last . Is this Twilight’s workroom or Luna’s?
It’s Luna’s. Same setting as in >>2825650 A Morning With The Night 7.
(left-handed mouse?)
My Luna has always been left-handed, I just don’t comment on it. I’m sneaky… :)

Now we get to see how Luna handles Twilight - “Twilighting” -.
She simply reminds Twilight of the facts (you are immortal and he isn’t); and then tells her that the problem isn’t a problem if you look at it properly (treat him as the gift that he is, and love him for it).

Lighting. The reflections and refractions from the blender are excellent!
How shameful to not be able to recognize the game cartridge from like 8 pixels. :P
