@Badumsquish
Yeah
But hey maybe g5 IF IT LASTED LONGER could have told us why
Perhaps Opaline gave a ultimatum and said “its either i destroy everyone you love or you step down”
Or something
Maybe Twilight wasnt as strong at the time
Who knows? THIS IS WHY THEY SHOULD HAVE CONTINUED IT!
@WanderingHolyKnight
What irritates me about that, is I feel like Twilight would have mopped the floor with Opaline LONG before she did the nuclear option and took all the magic XD
@Background Pony #224D
I don’t mind sequels. I just hate when they do that soft reboot thing where they sort of but not really do a sequel and it kicks off by completely undoing what the previous installments did. Like, go big or go home. If they want to do a sequel, then do a sequel, and if they want to start from scratch, then start from scratch. Like, they already kicked it off by making sweeping changes to G4’s characters and lore, so set it in an alternate universe or make G4 a work of fiction in the G5 world, or set this in another country and have the older Mane Six and adult Twilight show up in the finale to meet the new alicorn and congratulate her on a job well done or something. There’s ways to make it canon without undermining it, you know? :D
@WanderingHolyKnight
I think it probably did better for having referenced G4. Like, kids were going to like it either way, but I feel a lot of us older guys only showed up because it was a sequel :D
@Background Pony #EB41
I like G5, but I wholesale reject the whole “Twilight rose to power and then a month later screwed things up”. My headcanon is that G5 is thousands of years later and kingdoms and borders and customs just naturally changed over time and she and her friends are mythical entities now and G5 ponies don’t even really know how much of G4 was real and how much was myth :D
Because god forbid we allow the G4 cast to have a happy ending and just start the next Gen with a brand new setting.
None of the other Gens did this, they should’ve just stuck to a pattern.
@Clever Clovers
I like the idea that in-universe everyone agrees, including her, but she just thinks wearing regalia is part of the job XD

Either that, or it’s an alternate timeline where Twiggles had to take over before she was ready, hence why she still has her regular pony form :D
Y’know, I’ve always thought 2.0 Twilight didn’t look as natural as it should. And now, thanks to this picture, I realize why: Twilight doesn’t look good in regalia. The tiara for sure (she wore the Big Crown Thingy really well, after all), but the regalia is a bit much.
Why are you glaring at me Twilight?
Is it because I attacked a downed mage in my latest Saturday DnD session?
Perhaps you are right, but that mage is/was an accomplice to assassins and was trying to flee, so I wanted to make sure he was down and stayed down.

That is true, but in some ways, the way they went about it hurt. It’s kinda why G5 got so much hate, though the hate went too far.

I sometimes wonder…what if G5 debuted as it’s own thing? Would it have been received better?
Whether you liked G5 or not, I think it getting canned was terrible for fans of G5.
Cozy: statue
Ironically, she’d probably get right on with Dark Magician. They’re both loyal, heroic, dark-themed spellcasters :D
When she gets off the throne and faces a foe directly, she needs to make an entrance :D
Little of both XD
It is now XD

your current filter.Also saving Equestria :D
