There is a suggestion thread where you can share images [preferably by artists who’ve yet to be featured but not a hard-lined rule] you think are worthy to be Featured.
That said, Featured Images aren’t just strictly for immaculate and highly detailed images though that is what can make the cut. Simplicity, humor, cuteness, character design aspects, simply honoring the artist, or recent events can all influence potential for Feature. Art isn’t about just about what you put down and show to the audience, but also what you leave behind, and doing more with less can be extremely effective, if not moreso… like the composition of this piece in particular.
The way the hair hangs down, the drip of drool, popping colors intersecting lines of focus, expression, faint matching pink glow of the cheeks, there’s plenty of skill in this where other artists may lose the eye-popping attraction under the weight of too many details.
All of these image types are artistic expressions meant to evoke a form of escapism, community interaction, emotional reaction, or awe. Confining all Featured Images to just “masterpiece” level art would violate the broad interest of s on the site… plus a vast majority of regularly submitting masterclass artists have already been Featured, some more than once.
There’s several, very basic, simple images and silly images that get very high amounts of praise, which demonstrates the wider community appreciates them.
there are thousands of better drawn images on this site with better compositions and more effort put into them.
so why pick this which is just a head with a silly face when there are so many underrated masterpieces that deserve the spotlight?
