I agree with you completely on a variations in intellect. Unlike BMI, however, they’re not easily quantified, and someone who appears “dumb” by one measure may be quite gifted in ways which don’t lend themselves to testing.

Measuring a single IQ number is folly; however, that doesn’t make variations in intellectual power any less real. It’s kind of like BMI in that regard.
Memorization, working memory, processing speed, short-term memory, etc… are all components of intelligence. Sometimes they are unevenly distributed.
And the various different IQ tests are biased toward one or the other of those (in most cases more or less intentionally), which means the resulting IQ number (whether you normalize the curve around 100 or 0) is not terribly useful.

Are we gonna conclude that she certainly isn’t dumb because she was able to memorize a few events after trying 5 different learning methods for the entire episode?
