And we all know that Hasbro is damn well capable of that, financially.
Yet of course, given how this is also a cheap knock off attempt at piggybacking off the success of G4, however——rather than anything genuinely new or transformative in regards to FiM——it would sadly make sense for Hasbro to feel that they’d ought to rather land with cheap alternative replacements for the same characters, instead.

There’s a reason none of the famous screen actors in The Movie had recurring roles in FIM, and none of the moderately famous screen actors in A New Generation were brought back for MYM or TYT. These four new people– as great a job as I’m sure they’re going to do!– are absotootly not getting paid as much as (half) the Mane Six did.
There’s also the whole “most of the FIM cast are BCers and the new show is being made 3400km away in ON” thing.
If they’re going to be this lazy about it, the least they could do is to bring back the original cast.
After all, both the previous decade and this decade is the era of rehashes (though to be fair, there are a lot of benefits to this, and there have been a couple of pretty great rehashes).

How much of the cast was kept intact in G1->G3 or G3->G4? Not just FiM and G3 had two different Pinkies Pie, but of the core cast, how many stayed together vs. were promoted from or relegated to background pony status?
We would not be having these conversations if G6’s core cast were Pinkie Pie, G3 Cheerilee, Majesty, and Hitch. That would make it pretty clear that it’s a new combination of protagonist ponies.

They’re not the “exact same”. These are the G6 versions of the G4 characters. It’s like how G4 Pinkie is a different version of Pinkie compared to G3 Pinkie
So they outright axed the OG voice cast for these characters in G4, completely in spite of the fact that they’re now bringing these exact same characters back.
I don’t think anyone can argue with the fact that the actors in G4 were given a LOT more to work with story/acting-wise – and MUCH better direction– than the actors in G3 were, even when they were the same people.
For that matter, I think a lot of them already did a really good job in G3 as is. On recent rewatch, the voice-acting was one thing I never really had to criticize. You can really see why they were brought back in the first place.
Any idea why the 2023 error? If date was from start of planning reboot even if this particular idea was more recent I would get it.
I’d be so amused if they did that.
