Equestria in make your mark and Tell your tale never really gave an impression of a unified state/kingdom. After seeing potential story ideas from the leaked make your mark season 2 and pitch bible i decided to make this map and some headcanons with it. Also i may have taken inspiration from EAW’s map of Equestria
(Reposting my post here for archive purposes but please feel free to ask anything)
As for why it was so much less developed, the Unicorn were pretty conservative and lacking any real drive towards any sort of innovation and even consider magic to be taboo, likely leading their civilization to unable to innovate, and knowing only what’s already inside the forest like the fertile and magical soil for example, the Unicorn could only focus on developing their food/agriculture industry and mostly neglecting everything else until the events of the movie.
And considering the unicorns had phones as recent as shortly after the three tribes reconciled at the end of the G5 movie, i would expect they would have been able to import plenty of advance tech coming from both Zephyr Heights and Maritime Bay as well as the many talented ponies immigrating there, that their civilization would advance significantly faster.
@PonyKatze
That the earth ponies and pegasi had technology/civilization as/more advanced than G4 shows they also had plenty of food. Advanced civilizations are only possible when there is such abundant/surplus food there is time for other developments like city building and tech.
For Bridlewood to have bigger population due to food:
Should explain why it was so much less developed/populous prior to series despite most food.
Would have to become as advanced as other nations to leave food the difference. It seems like that would take longer than the few years you mentioned.
@Incursor
My thinking is that, because Bridlewood has a history of agriculture long before the reconciliation of the three tribes, and thus, had a monopoly on all crops food or otherwise, while the earth ponies was still getting used to controlling their newfound food making magic. Eventually though i do think that the market will stabilize as the earth ponies will be able to compete with the unicorns in regards to the agriculture industry.
@Incursor
Mostly a headcannon stemming from the fact that Bridlewood has rich soil that makes the agriculture industry more effective, thus contributing to a population boom. (See the ending for Tell Your Tale episode 66 for my reference)

Just realized something. How could Bridlewood have more food than earth ponies who can now instantly create food at will?
Alright, thanks.
My idea is this takes place a couple of years after the Secrets of Starlight episode

Is the population boom/this map set significantly after the G5 show? Then it would make sense.
