Before there was Twilight Sparkle there was Twilight Twinkle and before that there was simply TWILIGHT! Oddly, Twilight was not one of my favorite cast in my childhood stories. But something about how she was portrayed in the first MLP animated special “Rescue at Midnight Castle” stuck with me. Smart, thoughtful, and calm, she had an “every girl” sensibility abut her. The care for baby Ember (Apple Bloom’s predecessor) showed a sense of wisdom and empathy. And her cutie mark, a simple cluster of stars, could not be more iconic. She seemed a natural leader to me - a compliment to Firefly’s courage and impulsivity. Twilight Sparkle was more book-smarts than emotional intelligence, and she ended up feeling less like the big-sister type Twilight was. ALSO - in case your wondering, Twinkle was changed to Sparkle for some legal trademark reason I didn’t understand. For the record I preferred the alliteration.

Yeah, them trying so hard to deny that G6 is very clearly a reboot of FIM is hilarious. The designs are basically the G4 ones, and from what little we heard from the VAs, it seems the personalities are also pretty much the same as in FIM

Yeah, although it would have been nice if she was called Twilight Twinkle instead if Twilight Sparkle, just to help differentiate her from her G4 version
Making the characters resemble their G4 versions so much is bound to cause constant comparisons

I’ve been thinking the same thing. They resemble their g4 selves so much, I’d call G6 a FiM reboot [even though at SDCC they said it’s not…]

She does have a bit of blue in her mane like how Twilight Twinkle does.
