IRL aircraft is the Vought XF5U-1, a flying disc designed during WWII to allow for shorter takeoff and runways, technical stuff aside for the uninitiated, the Flying Flapjack was the final evolution of the V-173, which was a smaller scale test aircraft. The full sized aircraft had numerous IRL issues including gearbox challenges, relevance issues due to jet aircraft, but importantly a severe vibration problem that kept the full size prototypes from flying. I’m a fan of the design and I wanted to find a way to translate the aircraft into the Equestria at War universe, and I was successful, I think. P:
Sorry if the formatting is weird, I haven’t used Derpi properly in over 5 years at this point.
@FalloutRanger
A Vought XF5U, as far as I can tell, which used a circular wing design.
Edit: I am not very knowledgeable of aerodynamics, but apparently the idea was to make something that could take off and land at low speed but had good high speed manoeuvrability, and they used the propellor positioning to reduce wingtip vortex induced drag which would otherwise be a problem for an aircraft with a low aspect ratio.
