Bedtime. When we get up consult Tsu-Ko on what kind of monsters live around here and what might plausibly intercept us while flying.
As much as you wish time would pause for you just this once, it does not. The morrow’s travels loom but a sunrise away, and you will need all the rest you can get until then. With that in mind, you share some extra nuzzles with Honourshine, and suggest turning in early.
Honourshine: “I suppose we should; flying such long distances cannot be easy.”
You agree on that, but it that you do enjoy carrying her around.
Honourshine: “Good. That saves me the trouble of growing a pair of wings myself.”
You share a chuckle, and after one last hug, you Moonflower in the tent. It doesn’t take long for the day’s efforts to catch up to you, and within seconds of cuddling up to your bat pony friend, you doze off to the choir of crickets and cicadas outside…
A new day dawns upon the verdant mountains of Huise Shanmai. Sunbeams brighten the bamboo forest, and exotic birds take the ambient song over. You wake up after a good night’s sleep, wrapped snugly in Moonflower’s affectionate embrace.
Moonflower: “Hi Blazer!”
Honourshine: “Finally awake, brother?”
It seems you are last to wake up this time. As you sit up to yawn and stretch, you find yourself mildly entangled with the young bat pony, and realize that you must have had a nice dream.
Moonflower: “Heehee! Mornin’ bamboo’s comfy.”
Honourshine: “What a familiar sight. You don’t suppose this westwind relief tea would work on him, do you?”
Moonflower: “Ooh, maybe! I dunno how long he’d stick to it, though.”
Honourshine: “Hm… knowing him, we’d likely need more than we can lumber around.”
While your companions poke fun at you for… well, poking around, you try to take your mind off of it and check the time. Your pocket watch indicates ten o’clock. Time to get rolling!
Your party decides to start the day with a quick bath in the nearby river. You enjoy the cool water just long enough to freshen up — and for your body to cool off —, then you take a moment to pack up the camp. You feel rejuvenated!
Next, you share a ration of apple pastries for breakfast. While you eat, you decide to summon Tsu-Ko and discuss the travels ahead. Upon being called, the sprite appears in her usual burst of magic confetti, and you greet her good morning.
Tsu-Ko: “Good morning. I sense cloudy skies, drifting on the eastern wind, but no rain today.”
You thank Tsu-Ko for the poetic weather report, and ask her what else you should be keep an eye out for while flying in the region. You wouldn’t want to get pelted with snowballs again, if anything.
Tsu-Ko: “You won’t find any snow in this region, but imps are everywhere. So are kobolds. Neither of them can fly, but you should still avoid lakes and stone temples.”
Moonflower: “What about Devourers?”
Tsu-Ko: “Devourers can take on any form: beasts, objects, places… Unless you can sense souls, you probably won’t recognize one before it reveals itself. Just be wary of anything unusual.”
