You see, when it comes to Val, the plant and the crystal heart, it doesn’t make him a royal guard, it makes him a chosen one. He believes that ponykind’s contribution to Modern Equestria’s society was helping species similar to other pony tribes.

Wow… all of the pieces came together for real this time. What do we know about all this? Val has found this Crystal Heart that has been hidden very well after the Cutie Blossom Bash. Back in Ancient Equestria times, the Crystal Heart was known as the Crystal Empire’s Guardian. The city was protected from King Sombra or any threat, really.
