Many dragons were enjoying the sun at the beach. Then, abrupt chaos. The dragon lord, chased by dozens of angry dragonesses, plummeted toward the shore after one of them slashed his wing. The dragonesses descended on him like ravenous gulls and began pummeling him. Blood, pearls and teeth flew everywhere as the dragon lord tried to defend himself in vain.
A dignified dragoness who was centuries his senior loomed over him with a club in her claws. She was the legendary white-eyed beauty, Chroma, the old dragon lord’s sweetheart and this dragon lord’s executioner. Not a soul intervened on his behalf.
“F-Fiamme… choke on those pearls” Dragon Lord Hornito stammered before the club came down on his head.
No one liked Dragon Lord Hornito. To ordinary dragons he was a bully who demanded exorbitant amounts of tribute. To pink dragonesses he was a dastardly demon, who would descend on their caves the moment they came of marriageable age to collect a debt for a deal they never made. To everyone else he was a wicked warmonger.
To Chroma he was the dragon who violently took her soulmate from her and claimed her as his prize. There was perhaps only one dragon who hated Hornito as much as she did—Hornito’s favorite: the lovely, light pink Consort Fiamme.
Hornito was stingy even toward his favorites, but he outright neglected dragonesses whom he didn’t favor. He wanted his consorts to get jealous and fight over him, he made that very clear in everything he did. To Hornito’s chagrin, the consorts weren’t having it.
Despite being the favorite, Fiamme wasn’t spared from Hornito’s tantrums. After she had a black pearl necklace ripped from her neck in front of the other consorts, she and Chroma decided it was time for a regime change.
The story of how Chroma bided her time and ultimately crushed the dragon lord is still referenced by dragons today, including Torch, whose wedding armor depicted Chroma wielding her club.
