@Background Pony #D055
Same here – I think it’s “The Story of Hearts and Hooves Day” on Equestria Daily. That one had the Changelings descended from the Flutterponies… I wouldn’t find it hard to imagine that Flutterponies and Breezies are close relatives, though, or even the same species.
that might explain the portal and breezies only practice weak defense magic or all their magic is being use up to protect their home from their larger corrupted Flutterpony cousins.
Personally, I believe that Changelings were the result of a schism within the Flutter Ponies, and that Breezies are a different, but closely related, species.
Well, first evolution to that degree would take millions, not thousands of years ( unless you just wave your hand and say “magic honhon” ). Second, I’d imagine that the breezies are more fairy like in nature than actual insects.
Still, it’d be cool to imagine that these two were one in the same once upon a time. Maybe the changelings are simply that big because they’ve devoured so much love? And these creatures can take all sorts of phenomena and transfer it into magic. Changelings took love as it was potent (probably because they are greedy) and breezies took simple breezes, probably because they want to live simple lives (interject something about how they’d rather think than do stuff/own property, meaning they’d have a society of philosophers and scientists…new headcannon.)
In either case, if you’re going on some sort of evolutionary schism, you’re going back to when these buggers probably all used something else entirely like photosynthesis (because it’s easier or something)
well the image from that cover page has chrysalis and she looks suspiciously butterfly like. perhaps they species are related but something went horribly wrong with changelings.
ironically I read a fanfic once that had the history of the changelings be that they were butterfly like.
Though thinking in of evolutionary adaptation to harsh, loveless conditions over millenia is making me develop feels for the changelings. Which is just what they would want! And what’s with those rustling noises coming from behind your back anyw~
What if Breezeies and Changelings forged a military alliance? Breezies could like, ride in the Changeling’s holes – think living aircraft carriers – and then fly out to become a living cloud of razor blades.

…yet.
Also, I’m half-certain no series includes both Flutterponies and Breezies. :I
But that’s just me.

Changelings: the cruel subterranean Morlocks
The other grew fangs.
Yes, this. I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Umm… its a work in progress.
Also, now that I think about it, this headcanon makes me think of the Elf and Drow schism in Dungeons & Dragons.
If G1 was thousands of years past (and exists tangentially in the whole of the franchise), when would G3 take place? :3
…My headcanon is now that THAT was the originator species of both
Thanks!
