While he criticized Luna Eclipsed, and Mare Do-Well, he was still quite positive about the show until “A Canterlot Wedding” aired. Let’s just say he loathes Cadance & Shining Armor, and hates anything even slightly toy-etic. (Yet, still likes TMNT, old ‘80s/‘90s cartoons, and such that were toy/video game commercials.) He also felt Twilight having a brother ruined her backstory.
After that, he started putting a “suck” stamp on every single episode afterwords, (no matter what seemed to happen in them) and hailed Faust as the only person who ever “truely cared” about the show, or the only one who made it “good,” and acting like Meghan McCarthy is the anti-christ, and such.
(There are quite a few ex-bronies with that attitude to… Some quite odd like DisneyMaster, and Jax5485.)
Another reason for his bad rep’ lately isn’t just his (odd) opinions, and unpleasable attitude, but also his ive-aggressive remarks about the show, and/or it’s fans on Twitter, DA, or Tumblr. (Like when he remarked he “doesn’t watch shows for li’l girls,” and such, which is quite ironic in hindsight.)
I it, I can kinda understand some of CR being upset that we’re never going to see how Faust’s headcanon for the show would’ve gone, (curious how that would’ve been) but I kinda wish people would get over that. Especially, given the show’s “status-quo’” factor, and such.
(Plus personally, not all of her original concepts were “perfect.” I’m glad they changed “Apple-bonking” to “Apple-bucking” personally, it would’ve looked silly to have Applejack headbutt trees like Faust originally wanted. Also, if they kept Rainbow Dash as FireFly, we wouldn’t have “Sonic Rainbooms.”)

I kind of meant I don’t think I want to understand this particular “CR’s a duck” post. I know about CR, I used to watch is Familiar faces vids, even after he disliked the show thinking he’d just stay away from it, but he still complained a lot and bickered about Hasbro and Jan, especially with a Jewario Memorial avatar which he was one of the few TGWTG guys that wasn’t as much of a prick to the fandom as a lot of them so I’ve heard. So with all his pettiness, lost interest in him.
The gist is that CR did a series of retrospective videos on MLP, and a video on FiM itself espousing how great it was. He released it in between S1 and S2, and because of those videos, a lot of us (me included) decided to check out the show, and became fans ourselves.
However, some time during S2 (Biznizz, or Beau Skunky may know the dates better than me), he became very negative towards the show and those whom were still fans of it. To people like me whom had gotten into the show because of him, felt very confused as to why his opinion had done a complete 180.
Our views on him became negative because the reasoning for his dislike of pretty much anything FiM came across as exceptionally petty, or were basically Faust-worship.
Hence where we are today: CR is a misinformed anti-brony prick, and those whom got into the show because of him wonder if he was ever a fan of said show in the first place, or just a Faust fan.

I like MST3K, but CR comparing MLP to it, is like comparing apples, and oranges.
Also, kinda ironic CR doesn’t care that the creator, and main character of MST3K got replaced by another guy, and the “villains” getting replaced later on to, and such. Not trying to hate on CR, just saying he kinda has double-standards between shows, and he needs to stop trying to piss off bronies if he wants them to leave him alone.

It may be a matter of opinion, but my opinion is that just because the guy (Moench) has written some pretty bad stuff, it shouldn’t automatically invalidate the good stuff he’s done. As for the boycott, why punish B. Clay Moore for what stupid sh*t his artist did? Or James Robinson or Brian K. Vaughn? You want to punish Harris, you make a peition or something discouraging companies or writers from working with him.

To be honest, your first example seems like a matter of opinion. As for your second example, boycotting an artist’s entire work might be harsh, but I would be angry at a person who states that all female cosplayers are fake nerds as well, association with other artists notwithstanding.
Also, with your point about separating characters from actors, I believe that while the character may not be what the person acts like in real life, that doesn’t necessarily excuse the character for rotten behavior. For example, I’ve found myself watching the Nostalgia Critic less and less because, in my opinion, the Critic became more mean-spirited after the uncancellation. I found To Boldly Flee to be the pinnacle of the Critic’s character development, and the way he acts after that kind of betrays that for me.
I won’t deny that his overglossification about how bad the New 52 is (not denying it has a bunch of problems, but no more than preboot) makes up a big part of it, but in general I’ve been liking his writing less and less since around his Entity arc, to the point that if I do watch a review of his, I skip all the “plot”.
I also find that his attitude grates on me pretty bad. I know that Linkara is a character, but he’s more in line with Lewis real opinions than the Critic is for Doug or the Snob for Brad.
I a few incidents where his zeal to bash went too far: when he declared Doug Moench (who’s had a few books, like Sci-Spy or Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham) on the show, yet was loudly declared a hack despite his years as a very decently treated Batman writer (even if Bats is the only hero Doug is comfortable with).
Then when the Tony Harris incident occured where the artist accused women cosplayers of being fake nerd (simplification for this explanation), Lewis called for all his fans to boycott Harris’ works. Keep in mind, at the time, Harris was nearly done with a JSA limited series with another writer, and has collaborated with many writers who were bascially been called to be punished because the artist shoved his foot up his mouth.
If you like Linkara, more power to you. Personally, I can barely stand him and when I see that Ace Attorney inspired ATFW logo, I cringe so badly, it nearly hurts.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to see a lady about a vampire dog…

It’s… because of several reasons. I a while ago, there was a brony music remixer who had some big divorce from the franchise and, while a lot of people gave him flak because his letter sounded like being a brony hurt any job prospects he could get or something, he was eventually forgotten.
But in many ways, this guy Chad refuses to leave and let things die. Yeah, some of it is from some immature people who constantly pester him, but he has no signs of moving on from his contempt for the show & it’s fans.
He was also pretty public (as public as a popular Deviantartist and video contributor to a reviewer website can be), and he spent a lot of time during Season 2 getting people interested in the show with a retrospective of the whole franchise (not just Friendship is Magic), but also special reviews of individual episodes. His increasingly bittering mood also seemed to happen incredibly quickly during Canterlot Wedding and only got worse during S3.
Personally, I’ve stopped caring about trying to debate with him that the show isn’t the crap basket he thinks it is, but I’m continuially annoyed that, for all the time he spends in making snide comments about the show & fans, he could actually be doing something productive like his regular art & videos. And his insulting of people is pretty low too, but whatev.

I think people were just so baffled at how he suddenly he went from practically worshipping the show, to suddenly hating everything about it the moment Lauren Faust left, and Princess Cadance was introduced.
Doesn’t help CR keeps egging on angry bronies like with that journal I linked to in my previous post… As I said, neither side seems to be willing to stop.
Though, personally I think after having my apology snubbed by CR!, I’m officially through with him now…
