I don’t really agree that everyone is a little racist (as catchy and as funny as the Avenue Q song is). Speaking only for myself, race was not an issue for me as a child, and - due to my parents’ similar views - I was never really “taught” (directly or indirectly) to view other races in such a way.
I think upbringing can have a lot to do with it. I grew up in a very integrated city, so I’ve been around different ethnicities all my life. They were always there, and thus never felt “strange” or “alien” to me. I’m a mixed-ethnic person myself; My father was an Arab immigrant from Jordan, and my mother a white southerner, so I guess my perspective has always been that interracial relationships (whether friendships or romantic) are no big deal. The point I’m making is that my experience has likely left me far less prejudiced than someone from a more homogeneous community, who might have had little - if any - interaction with people outside of their race.
Going full-circle, this might be why I can see someone who could certainly be a high-society fashion designer in this artwork, and you can’t. I don’t know where you’re from or what your experience is, but I do know that mine lends itself very well to the idea that someone like Rarity could easily look like this without it contradicting who she is (and indeed, she could be a thin white woman too; I like plenty of those humanizations as well, for the record). My experience, anecdotal though it is, tells me simply knowing a character’s race isn’t enough to infer their personality, or vice versa in this case.

Often they use accusations of racism or whatever to deflect even legitimate criticisms. This artist may not be one of them, But it lookin all too familiar to this nigga. Niggertron can only speculate that this plus-size Rarity is a bid fo attention, but the artist may simply value body diversity, as you sayin. As to whether Body diversity is worth promoting is another issue that I don’t wanna get into.

But what if the artist genuinely values body diversity and therefore isn’t trying to shallowly “score points” with anyone? I don’t know, this idea that different-looking people can all come together and be friends is nice and certainly in-tune enough with the show’s themes. It’s certainly true of my personal experience as well, with my circle of friends being very mixed in everything from race to gender to body type.
Out of curiosity, are you black? It doesn’t matter, of course, though I suppose it might make your casual use of the N-word a bit different with that bit of information as context.

Rarity’s accent is uncommon for any race in this day and age. She’s deliberately over the top and cartoonish, and it’s somewhat implied that her accent is deliberately affected anyway (she doesn’t have it as a child in Cutie Mark Chronicles, and her family doesn’t have it either). :P
As I said before, I don’t really see her as particularly “fat” either. She’s not this morbidly obese character here; she’s just curvy or plump, and in my opinion, hardly unattractive. I get that physical standards of beauty vary from person to person though, so this would be like an argument about why I like certain pizza toppings and you don’t more than anything productive, regarding the weight issue.
If this were real live nigga, I’d agree with yall that she just happen to be black and chunky. That’s why you aint never see the Mighty Lord Niggertron talkin shit on cosplayers. However, this is an image created by an artist. Consciously or unconsciously,the artist decided to make her a thick nigga. We can only speculate as to why, but I seen it happen like that before.
But The conflict aint with Rarity’s personality. The real conflict here is with the voice. Since its the only aspect truly applicable to humanization, it influences many niggas’ headcanons. Now you may happen to know A nigga that sound like Rarity, but Niggertron willing to bet most niggas dont, and upon hearing Tabitha St. Germain’s voice, most niggas prolly didn’t envision a black woman.

I don’t see that at all. I just see a woman who happens to be black and happens to be somewhat on the heavy side. None of that has any implications about her personality to me.
I know a handful of heavier black girls in real life, and none of them fit the “sassy black lady” trope typical of many TV shows (of course, my friends are all geeks and nerds regardless of color, so take that as you will). Point being, you can make Rarity curvy and you can make her black without it being a statement, or without it somehow “not fitting” her character. Especially when people exist who fit these physical parameters who can have any sort of personality under the sun, not just the stereotype commonly associated with that appearance.

When you look at Rarity, most people’s first impression aint that she some proud-independent-woman-of-color-who-dont-need-no-man. That aint to say this interpretation is wrong, but it do be jarring to the majority of viewers.
No doubt, the artist’s motivation for this interpretation was to distance theyself from the typical skinny white bitch humanization. This is a case of goin so far against the stereotype, it highlights it rather than challenges it.
