Detailed syntax guide

I already use graphicsgale for most of my serious attempts at pixel art. Using MSpaint was only for bragging rights

@MegaHerts I don’t mean to be an r, but I use RealWorld Paint for a chunk of my pixel art. It has layers, transparency, and allows for the creation of animated .gifs. It doesn’t quite replace Paint7 to me, but I couldn’t suggest a better duo of tools in my experience.
@BigMax
Nah. It just takes extra patience to use MS Paint
@MegaHerts
I guess something basic like Paint.NET would be a godsend in comparison.

So trying to do something like this in MS Paint is like a challenge for a pixel artist, I presume?

@MegaHerts
That told me everything I needed to know…
@BigMax
The reason why MS Paint sucks is that it has no keyboard shortcuts and in general, it’s unfriendly.

If you watched me livestream this piece, you could see that I dramatically slowed down my mouse speed to make up for the extremely limited zoom to prevent cramping my hand. That, and I make very frequent trips from my working area to the toolbars above since MS paint doesn’t have keyboard shortcuts to change your tool at an instant. MS paint also is not really great for palette management. It does not transparencies, and misses a few other essential tools for any sort of use by professional pixel artists

Even for pixel artists, we know of better programs to use, so anyone who uses MS paint is probably a beginner who doesn’t really know better. That’s why MS paint is associated with bad art

Judging by the style and comparing it to that of another pixel artist, are you by any chance pix3m, except you’re moonlighting as a porn aritist ?
@BigMax
For the recerd, there’s no way I want to belittle the work of a pixel artist.
I’m impressed as always by this.
@MegaHerts
Mmm, MS Paint doesn’t just lack layers, though…

Say, is the work of pixel artist just a matter of picking the right colors and painting every pixel one by one so that even MS Paint can be as good as Photoshop for the task?
@BigMax
The lack of layers isn’t really a problem in pixel art.

Heck, I don’t think most traditional artists get to have layers when they work. Lack of layers is a normal thing for a good number of artists out there
A Logitech mouse is fine.
But holy crap, MS Paint…

It really takes some patience to deal with something that hasn’t even layers.
