Did the BBC ever officially state what happened to The Rani? That would have been neat too, though it would have also been waaaaaaaaaaay out of left field lol.

Considering the series now, yes it would have been. But considering Time Lords know how to Regenerate and we’ve seen The Master in a different form in the Tennant Era, it was PLAUSIBLE until Series Six.
Still, imagining the GRANDDAUGHTER go from the Screaming Girl to a bad@ss that can make DALEKS p*ss themselves WOULD have been awesome.
Makes you wonder if some people even know what the term “Mary Sue” means, doesn’t it? These days, it feels like it’s become some kind of catch-all for “Character I Don’t Like” or something.

Last I checked, she was not all there during the Eleventh Doctor’s time-line.
Sue? Are you serious? She has an ENORMOUS character arc that spans several seasons explaining why she’s the way she is. And she’s still not perfect.
