I wrote a fic based on Thingpone. First and only fiction I have ever wrote so it is kind of bad in the beginning but I think I am improving.
I wonder if anyone’s ever used her in a fanfic, or a roleplay.

I read that too. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s how the alien really felt about it all. I wish Child’s consciousness had lasted long enough to explain to it why its actions might not be so good after all, but sadly that never happened.

Alright I found the short story
It’s pretty good! I fee sympathy for Thing Pone! I wish to assimilate! Make my biology better! Fix my flaws!

That’s what I love about The Thing! After reading the movies wikia, I found out that someone wrote (a book? A comic?) detailing the story from the first movie from the creatures perspective!
That supposedly the creature was not evil and that it just wanted to spread it’s gifts with the humans!
Kind of like how Nurgle entrusts his children to spread his gifts!
Okay maybe that example is not the best.
But I would like to believe that the movie happened simply due to poor communication and a lack of trust.
Okay the movie was all about lack of trust!
But that doesn’t mean that Thing Pone doesn’t deserve a second chance, right?
Okay, so I finally broke down and watched a copy of John Carpenter’s The Thing!
And in doing so I have learned a very valuable lesson! If you find a alien spacecraft buried in Antarctica, leave it the Explicitive! alone!

I mean, they got it down easy now, but they really had to learn it, first. My Inclination is 29’64”, and my LAN is 170’39” West, and my epoch of 9:00 PM Jun. 29th UTC had me at 80’39” W, and my periapsis and apoapsis altitudes are 450 and 390 km, with my argument of periapsis being 40’W. Good luck doing the math, I’d be interested to see your progress/results XP
I mean, Kerbal Space Program has a nice visual interface that makes this easy. Real life doesn’t. Gemini was hard stuff :p
