Cutie Marks aren’t earned at a certain age, just a general age bracket. Applejack and Rainbow Dash are probably the same age, yet Applejack got her cutie mark last and Rainbow got hers first.

I have always loved her thin veneer of smiles and positive attitude over her sarcasm and frustration - no, she can’t chew out Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Applejack for not keeping to the spirit of the competition, but she damn well wants to.

seriously, though, cheerilee is probably one of the most underrated characters in the whole show and seeing her play an actual part was the highlight of the episode for me. as is the case with many irl teachers, poor cheerie has a harder time dealing with the adults than with the kids!
That doesn’t really mean anything, there’s no set age at which a pony earns their cutie mark. There are early and late bloomers.
