People ca go through things and bond without having to be romantically involved. No reason to assume that any other ship is rendered invalid. If that sort of attitude was applied to real life, no one would ever go out on a date with anyone but their friends.

Sunset is teasing Twilight about Timber.
 
I havnt seen the movie, but the way i see it, its shipping between sunset and twilight. Any other ship is dumb and forced because twilight and sunset have bonded, and grew together. To send a male into this with literally no right for a girl out of the blue undermines everything they all went through together. To me, you have to PROVE, over a long time, that you are worthy of a girl.
