Personally, as much as I like Starlight, she does NOT need to become an alicorn. It just wouldn’t fit her character.

The former was done out of panic and a gut reaction, AFTER she had tried to get them to talk things out, and the latter was done out of not thinking things through, which is a pretty frequent flaw of hers (see: the rock thing).

By what definition of red? It was accidental yes but Starlight did (as she herself put it) nearly destroy the universe while intentionally trying to alter history out of spite, and she purposefully created a brainwashing cult. Twilight’s never done anything close to that (trying to steal something out of desperation to save the world and snapping at her friends in anger does not compare).
To be clear, I love Starlight, but we just plain don’t know enough about “princess-worthy deeds” to judge if she ever even could qualify for becoming an alicorn. Its not like she needs it either given she’s a magical prodigy regardless.
